Melbourne Bureau Chief Andrew Drummond has been appointed AAP Editor to replace the retiring Mike Osborne. Andrew Drummond will start the appointment in November.
Since joining the company in 2007, Andrew has worked as a reporter in Sydney, London, Canberra, Hobart and in Melbourne. Andrew's coverage of crime, courts, politics, state and federal elections, of Olympics, cricket Tests and Wimbledon tennis confirms his technical credentials for the role. But he is a proven manager of people who cares deeply for staff welfare and development and has forged strong relationships with key newswire subscribers.
"I'm honoured to take on this role and be part of AAP's exciting future, plus get the chance to work closely with even more of our talented people." - Andrew Drummond
Mike has been exceptional for AAP for 35 years - the past 11 as an editor - and we will miss him greatly. Andrew's appointment follows Holly Nott's recent appointment as Managing Editor which assumes most of Mike’s administrative duties.
We are excited for what Andrew can bring to the role.
