AAP photographers win top Walkleys

It was a great night for the AAP picture desk last night at the 2018 Walkley Awards, with two big wins and a nomination.

“Linda Burney Airborne" was chosen to represent a hero image for the year by the panel of judges at Thursday night's awards ceremony in Brisbane from all work submitted by photographers in the Nikon-Walkley photographic categories.

AAP photographer Craig Golding earned a nomination in the Sports photo of the Year category this year.

Also earning his first Walkley Award was fellow AAP photographer Dean Lewins, who took out the Press Photographer of the Year prize.
